About Mrs. Nonno

Mrs. Nonno is the Mathematics Instructor here at CVCC and has been a teacher here at CVCC for more than nine years. In each of her classes, Mrs. Nonno uses direct instruction and real-life experiences to provide students with the skills they need to pursue a successful career in mathematics. In addition to the variety of math course options that Mrs. Nonno teaches, she also teaches college level math through Academic Systems to students at CVCC.  Below is a brief program description for Mrs. Nonno's courses.

Courses:

Algebra 1: Topics include real numbers, basic algebraic operations and simplification of polynomials, factoring, linear equations and inequalities, rectangular coordinate system, solution of linear systems, rational expressions, exponents and radicals, and solutions of quadratic equations. Applications and activities to build skills in problem solving are also included.

Algebra 2:  Expands and builds from basic algebra concepts. Expanded topics include algebraic operations, set notation, factoring, linear and quadratic equations, systems of linear equations, radicals, rational expressions, and rational equations. Other topics included are linear inequalities, quadratic inequalities, absolute value inequalities, exponential and logarithmic functions. Introduction to complex numbers, functions, elementary transformations, and conic sections will also occur. Calculator/computer applications will be used, along with applications and activities to strengthen problem solving skills.

Pre-Calculus:  Intensified course designed to prepare students for calculus. Study of real numbers, equations and inequalities, functions and graphs, sequences and series, theory of equations, systems of equations and inequalities, mathematical induction, conic sections, exponential and logarithmic functions, trigonometric functions and complex numbers. Applications and activities to build skills in problem solving also included.
