My name is Mr. Hance and I have been at CVCC since 2005. I am a Jouneyman plumber and has been working in the construction field for the past 15 years. I have expirenced many facets of the construction industry, and have also done lanscaping, property maintenance, electrical, masonary, and carpentry. I enjoy teaching and sharing the trade and expericiences which I have learned over the years. If you have the opportunity to take my class you will enjoy yourself, and learn the basics of construction.In each of his classes,I uses direct instruction and real-life experiences to provide students with the skills they need to pursue a successful career in the building and property maintenance industry. Below is a brief program description of the courses.
BUILDING & PROPERTY MAINTENANCE
Credit: 3.5 elective
In this program students needing more time for skill acquisition acquire entry-level skills in building, grounds and equipment maintenance as well as basic custodial services. The emphasis is upon the acquisition of employability skills and basic competencies needed for entry-level employment. Skill training includes basic plumbing, carpentry, electricity, HVAC, painting and cleaning, safety on the job, tool use, grounds maintenance and equipment maintenance. This is a one-year course with return for a second year being an option on a case-by-case basis. Counselor recommendation is required for admission to this program.
