 Welcome to the MOST memorable class EVER! 

I look forward to helping you achieve your goal of becoming a teacher.

 
Mrs. Everhart, M. Ed. is a National Board Certified teacher and a Jennings Scholar.  She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Akron; Computer Science certification from Cleveland State; Master's Degree and Administrative Licensure from John Carroll University.  Her certifications include Comprehensive Business, VOED/COE Business, K-12 Computer Science, and K-12 Administration.  During her nineteen years in education, Mrs. Everhart has had variety of leadership roles in addition to her teaching assignments.  At Cuyahoga Valley Career Center she is involved with the Professional Development Committee and the Teacher Induction Program.  Additionally, she is actively involved with the Ohio Department of Education in the development and refinement of the Teaching Professions curriculum. 

In the classroom, Mrs. Everhart uses a variety of instructional techniques and weaves in life experiences to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to make connections between prior knowledge and current content.  She makes learning fun!

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

3.5 Elective High School Credits 
College Credit is available for those who qualify in Foundations of Education (public institutions ), Field Experience, and Educational Technology and Media (selected private institutions). 

Teaching Professions introduces college-bound seniors to the field of education.  Students graduate high school knowing if education is a viable career for them.  This program provides students with a jump start on their education by offering college credit for Foundations of Education (or equivalent) at various colleges/universities.  Instructional topics include instructional strategies, lesson planning, learning styles, classroom environment, technology, safety professional responsibilities, collaboration, communication, and monitoring and assessing student performance. 

Each student must also complete three observation rotations in actual elementary, middle school, and high school classrooms.  Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from their field experience sites.
 
Applicants must complete a 300 word entrance essay, have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5, provide two letters of recommendation from teachers, and have an interview with the instructor. 

 
*College credits are based on class grade, attendance, portfolio score, and the receiving institution.  Current articulations are with Ashland, Notre Dame, Tri-C, University of Cincinatti, Ursuline College, Walsh University.
