Dental Assisting students learn to assist the dentist in preparing patients and dental materials and by providing chair-side assistance.  Coursework includes basic dental laboratory skills, terminology, head and neck anatomy, nutrition, safety and infection control. Students also learn dental office procedures and work with office management software. Upon completion of the program students will sit and take the National R.D.A. Exam. The students also have the opportunity to become Radiology certified and may obtain the C.O.D.A. certification.  Graduates are prepared for positions as dental assistants in private, group or specialist practices, insurance company receptionists and dental laboratory technicians.With further education, possible career paths include Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), Dental Hygienist and Dentist.
