About Mrs. Valukievic
Mrs. Valukievic is one of three Health Careers Instructors at CVCC. She started the program in 1996. Mrs Valukievic has been employed in the Healthcare field since High School as a Dental Assistant, Medical Assistant and a Registered Nurse, with Hospital experience in Orthopedics, Neurology, and Oncology. She received an Associate Degree in Nursing from Lakeland Community College and a Bachelors Degree in Nursing from Ashland University. She attended Kent State University to obtain a Teaching Certificate in Vocational Education. In each of her classes, Mrs. Valukievic brings real-life experiences to provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to pursue a successful career in the health care industry.
Below is a brief program description for Mrs. Valukievic's courses:
Year Two-- Medical Technology Option: 3.5 elective
Health Careers students learn basic knowledge that may be utilized in a variety of occupations in the medical field. In Year 1, all students take a core curriculum which includes Vital Signs, Infection Control, Safety, Medical Terminology, as well as Anatomy and Physiology. In Year 2, students are recommended for either Pre-Nursing (State-Tested Nurse Assistant) or Medical Technology (Phlebotomist/EKG Technician).
Hands on Clinical Rotations take place at local healthcare facilities.
Prerequisites for the course include grades of C or better in Algebra I and Biology, a GPA of at least 2.0 and an interview with the instructors prior to admission.
